Natural Raw Honey and Sustainable Beekeeping

Natural raw honey is foraged by bees, from the native forests and wildflowers of Australia’s South West.

Our apiaries are permanently situated on sustainable sites, suitable for bees.  These sites have been chosen for a large number and diversity of species - with seasonally available nectar.

We do not migrate our bees to different locations, practice intensive breeding or treat the bees and hives with chemicals.

Our hives only yield what is available to the bees in the natural environment, which are seasonally and annually different.

Our bees are allowed to forage and interact with bees in the natural environment. They become attuned to the local ecosystem and conditions. Part of the local terroir.

NATURALLY & ETHICALLY HARVESTED

Any honey, which is genuinely excess to the bees, in a good season is harvested and cold extracted from the combs by centrifuge. The bees are monitored and left with honey reserves to sustain them naturally.

We use a ‘clearing board’ when it is time to harvest the honey– a gentle respectful approach that slowly evacuates the bees from the comb.

We harvest manually and gravity strain the honey to produce a raw, natural, high quality and sustainable honey.

Foragers honey has a very low moisture content and a rich flavour profile with fresh aromas, capturing the unique terroir & wellness benefits of South Western Australia flora.

TERROIR

Terroir means “a sense of place.” Essentially, terroir encompasses all of the natural conditions, which influence the flora and the expression of the season.

The native forests and wildflowers are a diversity of species of plants growing in the environment, which they have evolved. They ecologically depend on the conditions, in which they grow, the soil, climate and even the other species such as birds and animals, which interact with them. The ecosystem has a complex range of connections to other species and the environment, in which they live and grow.

Each year is seasonally different, the weather patterns influence the species and timing of growth and flowering, if flowering occurs at all. Some species may flower only every few years – thus each year is unique.

Honey is a true expression of terroir, a reflection of the place and species from where it is sourced. Each honey captures the distinctive flavours and natural wellness benefits from the species, which they are foraged.

Each jar of honey is an expression of millions of flowers; a result of nectar foraged by the bees. Each season and each year yields a unique honey.

REAL FLAVOUR & WELLNESS

We aim to provide pure, healthy, natural honey; that captures the unique terroir of South Western Australia, and is ethically harvested respecting the bee colony’s needs.

Honey is a food and natural medicine in its raw state. It has been proven scientifically that genuine raw honey has a different flavour, texture and wellness benefits.
